Queensborough Middle School we are dedicated to working together within a safe,
caring, respectful learning environment to enable all students to reach their

Unacceptable Behaviours for QMS Students:
The unacceptable
behaviours listed in the Code of Consequences are examples only and are not
intended to be an all-inclusive list.
Disciplinary action,
wherever possible, is preventative and restorative, rather than merely
punitive. The purpose of consequences
for unacceptable behaviour is to help students learn from mistakes and be
proactive about preventing further inappropriate behaviour.
School Goals
GOAL
#1: To improve student achievement in literacy in oral, reading and writing
skills related to:
Ø
Making inferences
Ø
Synthesizing ideas presented in text or in oral presentations
Ø
Noticing how authors justify their ideas and using this skill in their
own oral or written presentations
Ø
Using oral language to prepare to read a text and discuss a text which
has been read
Ø
Using oral language to prepare to write clearly, justifying ideas
Ø
Reading fluently at the speed of speech, using fiction or non-fiction
text
Ø
Using details and descriptive language to expand on ideas expressed orally or in writing
Ø
Using writing conventions correctly to enhance the meaning of a piece of
writing
GOAL #2: To improve student achievement in numeracy with particular concentration
on the following skills:
Ø Computational skills at
grade level
Ø Mathematical reasoning

multi-operational mathematical problems in a real world context
