Ready Set Learn Library

As part of the Ready Set Learn program, we have created a special library for children aged 3-5 years old. 

Children can visit the library with a parent/guardian and check out books from the Ready Set Learn Library after school on Mondays and Fridays.  You must check-in at the office and receive a visitor's pass before coming to the library.

There will be a 1 week loan period on books and a limit of 2 books per child.  Parents/guardians are responsible for the books and any replacement costs that may occur.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Registration

A registration form must be filled out for each child.  The registration deadline for the 2010-2011 school year is June 4.

The following documentation is required:

• Birth Certificate (if born in Canada) or Permanent Resident Card (if born outside Canada)

• Immunization Record

• Proof of residence for the family (Driver's License or an addressed letter)

Preparing for Kindergarten

Suggestions for preparing your child for a smooth transition into the Kindergarten program:

• name some letters of the alphabet
• count to 10
• say their first and last name
• use child scissors to cut a basic shape
• put on and button / zip up their coat, shirt, and pants
• put on their shoes (please use velcro if the child can not tie laces)
• listen to stories without interrupting
• begin to share with others
• bounce a ball
• have some experience with drawing, colouring, and using glue
