01/17/12 - NWSS - Pre-IB Information Night for parents of current Grade 8 students. Begins at 6:30pm, in the NWSS Library.

02/03/12 - Deadline for receipt of Teacher Referral Forms for prospective grade 9 NWSS Pre-IB students.

02/25/12 - NWSS Pre-IB Entrance Testing for grade 8 students, 9:30am - 12:30pm in the Pearson Cafeteria.

05/24/12 - Entrance testing for prospective NWSS Pre-IB grade 10 students, prospective grade 11 students. 9:00am - 12Noon, Room 160A.

05/02/12 to 05/22/12 - Grade 12 IB Examinations. Good Luck grade 12s.

07/03/12 - Grade 12 IB Examination Results available. See Mr. Janz for your username and password.

Benefits/Applying

The IB diploma is a passport to higher education. The three or four higher levels courses that a student takes in IB can earn them credits at some universities. Universities around the world welcome the unique characteristics of IB Diploma Programme students and recognize the way in which the programme helps to prepare students for university level education.

IB students routinely gain admission to some of the best known universities in the world. Most of these institutions have established recognition policies for the IB diploma. Click on the link for more information on course transfers to universities locally and abroad. For example:

Applying

Students from out of district must pick up and submit a Registration package for the New Westminster School District. Registration packages to attend NWSS will be available at the main school office.

Admissions for NWSS Pre-IB 9 students:

-New Parent Information Session: Tuesday January 17, 2012 @ NWSS at 6:30pm, held in the NWSS Library.

-Application packages are available after January 9, 2012 from the NWSS Pearson Office or from either New Westminster Middle Schools.
-Application deadline: Student Application Form and Teacher Reference Forms (2) are due at February 3, 2012
-Entrance Testing: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 9:30 am -12:30 pm, held in Pearson Cafeteria at NWSS.
-Contact Linda Lincoln, IB Secretary at 604-517-5932 or at llinclon@sd40.bc.ca to register for testing.


Admissions for NWSS Pre-IB 10 students:

-Testing will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 9 am - 12 noon in Room 160A.
-Contact Linda Lincoln, IB Secretary at 604-517-5932 or at llinclon@sd40.bc.ca to register for testing.
-Application packages are available after April 2, 2012 from NWSS Pearson Office.
-Student Application Form and Teacher Reference Forms (2) are due at May 4, 2012.
-Students whose entrance testing are successful must also complete a package of summer work, and show proof of completion of Foundations and Pre-Calculus Math 10 (don’t forget the provincial examination) prior to September 2012. If you wish to rewrite the provincial exam, we will arrange that for January of your grade 10 year.


Admissions for IB 11 students:

-Testing will be held May 24, 2012 9am - 12noon in Room 160A.

-Application packages are available after April 2, 2012 from NWSS Pearson Office.
-Student Application Form and Teacher Reference Forms (2) are due at May 4, 2012.
-Students whose entrance testing & interviews are successful must also complete a package of summer work, and show proof of completion of Principles of Math 11, and Social Studies 11 (including provincial examination) prior to September 2012.
