01/17/12 - NWSS - Pre-IB Information Night for parents of current Grade 8 students. Begins at 6:30pm, in the NWSS Library.

02/03/12 - Deadline for receipt of Teacher Referral Forms for prospective grade 9 NWSS Pre-IB students.

02/25/12 - NWSS Pre-IB Entrance Testing for grade 8 students, 9:30am - 12:30pm in the Pearson Cafeteria.

05/24/12 - Entrance testing for prospective NWSS Pre-IB grade 10 students, prospective grade 11 students. 9:00am - 12Noon, Room 160A.

05/02/12 to 05/22/12 - Grade 12 IB Examinations. Good Luck grade 12s.

07/03/12 - Grade 12 IB Examination Results available. See Mr. Janz for your username and password.

IB Music 11/12

This course contains three components. Students study music in western society from 1700 to the present and world music of The Americas, Africa, The Middle East, India and The Pacific Rim. Students must also study basic music literacy including acoustics, notation and ear training. For the final component, students chose between two performance projects or two music composition projects.

IB Theater Arts 11

This is an academic course in theatre arts for students in the IB Diploma or IB Certificate Programmes. Theatre Arts 11 aims to help students understand the nature of the theatre, both by studying it and by performing. Theatre traditions from various cultures will be studied, and students will be required to analyze scripts and performances, produce and perform in theatrical works, and conduct research appropriate to the subject. Assessment for this course is undertaken in four categories:

  • Performance Skills
  • World Theatre Studies
  • Practical Play Analysis
  • Theatre Production

Prerequisites are successful completion of the NWSS Pre-IB Programme at New Westminster Secondary, or recommendation from the IB Programme Co-ordinator and Theatre Arts SL teacher.
