Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome to a new and exciting year at Lord Kelvin Community School. The students have settled into their new classrooms with their new teachers and are already learning and adjusting to routines and general school events. The staff has been very busy preparing for another successful and enjoyable year.

As we begin, this year starts as a year of change. We have had to say good-bye to some very talented and extraordinary staff members, due to retirements, changes in assignments and new opportunities, who will be greatly missed. We wish them luck in whatever new endeavours they encounter.

I would like to welcome our new staff members, students and families to Lord Kelvin. I hope that you will come to embrace this community and everything that it has to offer the way it has so graciously embraced me for the last 15 years. This community will teach you everyday and I continue to consider myself privileged to work and grow as a person within this learning community I have come to call home.

Our goals this year will continue to centre around the area of Social Responsibility and improvement in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy. We will build on these goals by continuing to teach our Code of Conduct and our 4 School Rules: Be Kind, Be Safe,Be Respectful, Be Responsible. These rules continue to be our rules for success in life.

At Lord Kelvin we have an excellent and competent staff whose focus is to help nurture the heart first and foremost. When we tend to the emotional, social and physical needs of our students then their minds are ready to learn academically. We care, nurture, love, guide, nurse, parent, discipline, play, feel, listen, discuss, and teach the students.

With the help of our dedicated staff, supportive families and community, I trust this will be another successful year.
