Our school nurse, Ms. Farah Ali from the Simon Fraser Health Unit, is in the school Thursday mornings and can be reached at other times at the Health Unit at 605-777-6740, or directly at 604-777-6717.  Ms. Farah Ali will be administrating the immunization program and is available to address basic health concerns.  However, please notify the school directly if your child has any serious medical condition.
IMMUNIZATIONS
During the school year, immunizations for diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps and rubella will be offered to all unprotected children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.  Grade 6 students will also be offered Hepatitis B vaccinations in the fall and again in the spring.  (No child will be immunized without parental written consent).  Please ensure that the school has the most up-to-date record of your child's immunization.
The following is a list of required immunization:
Diphtheria / Petussis / Tetanus  -  5 doses
Polio  -  3-4 doses
Measles / Mumps / Rubella  -  2 doses
Haemophipus B Inflenza Meningtitis  -  1- 4 doses
A second Measles vaccination is recommended this year and is available at the Health Unit.
VISION AND HEARING SCREENING
Screening of the Kindergarten students will be done with a team from the Health Unit in the fall.  Parents will be notified if their child is in need of a complete examination.  Other students can be screened upon request throughout the year.
DENTAL SCREENING
Dental screening of all Kindergarten students will occur later in the year by the Health Unit.  Other children may be screened by parental request.  Some free treatment is available through the UBC Faculty of Dentistry.
DEAF/HEARING SUPPORT
Mr. Bruce Wong provides support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing and provides direct and consultative services to those students who have a diagnosed hearing loss, to their parents and to school staff.
VISION SUPPORT
Children with vision difficulties will be referred to Ms. Roxanne Demeyer, our district vision specialist.
SPEECH/LANGUAGE SUPPORT
Our Speech-Language Pathologist, Ms. Megan Kleisinger, supports students in developing communication skills.  Assessment of students' communication skills is provided and, where necessary, intervention is offered in the areas of language disorder and delay, articulation, voice and speech fluency.  Students may be seen on a direct or consultative basis in collaboration with classroom teachers and parents.
