Silverwing

By:Kenneth Oppel

Why this book is a winner

This book is a winner because it is so well written it makes you believe you are there. It's a book that you can't put down. It's a joy to read; a thriller and I believe that it's one of my most favorite books of all time. I hope more people would give this style of book a chance. Another book that you should read is "Dead Water Zone" it's a thriller.

Main Characters

The main characters of the book are Shade and Marina. Shade is a  runt younge silverwing bat not supposed to live past a newborn. Marina is a younge brightwing bat ejected from her colony because she had a band from the humans.

Setting

The setting of the book is all over the place though a forest, a sewer full of over 1 foot rats, and a human city full of birds. And over the ocean where flying over the ocean though the wind is always unpredictable and full of hazards. They don't spend alot of time in each place as they are trying to get back to Shades colony.
Main Events
Right in the beginning Shade got Tree Haven, the nursery colony burned down because he wanted to see the sun, which he did except only a sliver. Next when the colony started migrating they had to fly over the ocean and battle the winds, Shade gets swept away on a storm over the ocean where he is left for dead. Shade finds a young Brightwing bat who agrees to help him. They do all the clues except one and some meat eating bats decide they want to eat them. They die by getting struck by lightning. They figure out the last clue and Shade goes home with Marina.
                                                        THE END
