School (NWSS) is the main high school in New Westminster, and
home to both the International Education Program and our office.
NWSS has over 2,000 students in Grades 8-12. |

| NWSS is one of the largest and best-equipped
high schools in British Columbia. NWSS facilities include: five
computer labs, including ones for Internet and multimedia, three
gymnasiums, a full-service cafeteria, a large sports field, an ice-skating
rink, a 1,260-seat professional theatre, and specialized classrooms
for sciences, art, and music. International students also receive
free access to e-mail and the Internet. |

New Westminster Secondary School offers
strong academic programs, including French Immersion, International
Baccalaureate and a Fine Arts Mini-School. Furthermore, the school
offers many excellent elective courses in areas such as computer
science, business, drama, art, music and physical education.
All teachers are certified professionals with at least two post-secondary
degrees. Teachers and support staff work together to ensure students
learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment. |

| Program emphasis is on creating projects rather than
simply studying theory. Students receive foundation skills and explore
original ways to express themselves beyond writing essays. |

| Our Music Programs |

| NWSS has several award-winning students active in its Music Department.
In addition to classes, practices and concerts, the Music Department
plans student trips around the world, including Europe, the U.S.
and across Canada. Students fundraise all year long to help cover
the expenses of program trips. Music education is an important
program at NWSS and we encourage students of all music levels
to participate. |
