May 2007

Yacouba had his birthday in May and is now 9 years old. We sent off a large package for him with all kinds of surprises. We made birthday cards for him and drew pictures. We look forward to hearing from Yacouba again!!!

September 2007

Yacouba wrote us over the summer to say thank you for the items that we sent him. He was very happy to have so many surprises. He also sent us a new picture.

 

September 2008

Yacouba sent us a little report of how he is doing. He is now 10 and in grade 4. His favourite subject is Reading. Everyday he wakes up at 6 a.m. to look after the family animals. His favourite food is couscous. He has clothes, medical checkups, medicine and schooling because we sponsor him.

 

December 2008-Yacouba sent us a Christmas card with a drawing.

 

May 2009

Yacouba is turning 11 this month. We sent him a box full of birthday letters, some Canada socks, flag and tattoos. We hope he is surprised and happy to receive it. We look forward to hearing from him soon.

 

September 2009

Yacouba sent us a letter!! He is in grade 4 and his favourite subject is grammar. He says  his favourite game is football. When he grows up he wants to be a nurse. The money that we send helps him to have clothes, school equipment, food and medical help. He has sent along a picture that he drew.

   

                                       

 November, 2009

Yacouba had a World Vision sponsor translate his letter from french to english for us. It is so nice to hear from him.

 

 

September 2010

We received a progress report and a photograph from Yacouba!  His progress report tells us that his favourite subject is reading and he is in good health. His favourite animal is a dog. In his family he has a dad, mom, a sister and 3 brothers. His house is made of bricks and wood. He helps his family with field work. Our sponsorship allows him to have clothes, shoes and blankets as well as the chance to go to school and have medical support. We always enjoy hearing from Yacouba.

 

December 2010

Yacouba sent us a Christmas card and drew a picture. It's fun to hear from him and see his artwork improve.

 

 

May 2011

Yacouba is turning 13!! We made birthday cards/letter for Yacouba and sent them off to him. He will be so surprised and happy to receive them.

September 2011

We received a progress report and picture from Yacouba. In this year's report he tells us that his house is made of mud bricks and sheet metal.  Yacouba is in good health and is in grade 5. His favourite subject is writing. When he grows up Yacouba would like to be a teacher. His best friend is named Adama. His favourite animal is sheep. He loves to play ball games and his favourite celebration is Muslim Feast. Our sponsorship helps Yacouba and his family with such things as acquiring mosquito nets, school books, a school library and training. Below is a picture that Yacouba drew for us.

We received a Christmas card from Yacouba. He also included a little drawing.
